Representing over half a trillion dollars in shareholder value,
Lucas Meyers provides expert strategic advice and high-quality,
focused representation to a diverse group of clients. He also advises
private equity and venture capital funds on political risk
and portfolio growth opportunities in a rapidly changing political
environment.
During his time in state government, Lucas worked for Republican
and Democratic leaders in the Texas Senate and House. He advised
legislators and staff on an array of policy areas, including
telecommunications; REITs; public-private partnerships; budget
and taxes; electricity; oil and gas; securities; banking; alcohol
regulation; corporations law; and property and casualty insurance.
Lucas previously served as General Counsel and Director of
Government Relations at the Texas Cable Association, where he
advised the largest cable companies operating in Texas on a broad range of matters that included video, telecommunications, smart home, and broadband regulation; subsidy and tax reform; procurement reform; federal and state privacy law; intellectual property law; and antitrust compliance.
As an attorney at the New York office of Skadden Arps, Lucas served on a legal team representing corporate clients and high-net-worth individuals in securities litigation, complex commercial litigation, and derivative actions. Of note, he participated in the defense of foreign and domestic hedge funds in legal actions relating to the largest Ponzi scheme in American history and served as the sole associate on multiple cases involving claims over $1 billion.
Lucas is a former semi-professional rugby player and played in both the United States and England. He earned his J.D. with honors from the University of Texas School of Law and graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. in Government from the University of Texas at Austin.
